This Ninja Creami mint chocolate chip ice cream is creamy, minty and everything you love about this classic flavor, lightened up. It’s super easy to make and only needs a handful of simple ingredients.

Why you’ll love this
This homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream is just as delicious as the one you know and love, but made lighter and lower sugar to satisfy your sweet tooth.
There’s no long ingredients list for this homemade ice cream, complicated ice cream machine or churning- all you need is your Ninja Creami machine and pint containers.
Eating the whole pint of this mint ice cream is nutritionally the same as just a few scoops of the ice cream you’d find in the grocery store.
The Ninja creami ice cream maker takes a lightened up version of your favorite traditional ice cream flavors and turns them into creamy ice cream for you to enjoy- like this mint chocolate chip version.

Ingredients
- Milk: I recommend 2% milk for the Ninja Creami. It keeps the recipe light with just enough creaminess. I like to use an ultra-filtered milk like Fairlife. You can also use whole milk or a dairy-free milk like coconut milk, almond milk or oat milk.
- Heavy Cream: A splash of cream makes a big difference in the flavor and texture. If you are looking to keep the fat and calories lower you can skip but I do find that it’s worth the add! You can omit the cream if you use whole milk.
- Pudding Mix: Instant vanilla pudding mix keeps the texture of this ice cream creamy and light and it adds just the right amount of sweetener. Sugar free pudding mix works just as well.
- Mint extract: Mint or peppermint extract both work well- it doesn’t take much to get the perfect mint flavor!
- Chocolate: Mini chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate balance the mint flavor and add another level of sweetness.
- Optional ingredients:
- Food coloring: 3-4 drops of green food coloring will give you the perfect mint green color.
- Sweetener: I also recommend taste testing your ice cream base before freezing to make sure it’s sweet enough for you. If it’s not, add a teaspoon at a time of maple syrup, honey or white sugar.
How to make Ninja Creami mint chocolate chip ice cream
Step 1: Add milk, heavy cream, mint extract and vanilla instant pudding mix to the Ninja Creami pint container. Whisk vigorously or use a coffee frother or immersion blender to fully blend the ingredients. Taste test at this step! If it’s not sweet enough for you, add a teaspoon of additional sweetener.
Step 2: Place pint container in the freeze with a lid for 24 hours.
- Run lite ice cream mode x1. After the first spin scrape down the sides and bottom of the pint container with a spoon to break up any ice crystals.
Step 3: Remove the lid and place container into the Ninja Creami Machine. Press the lite ice cream button and spin.
Step 4: Run the machine using the re-spin function two times. The final product should be smooth and creamy.
Step 5: Create a small opening in the center of the ice cream pint and add chocolate. Run mix-in mode x1.
Step 6: Serve with your favorite ice cream toppings!
How to store
Store leftovers in an airtight container or the Ninja Creami pint container with the lid in the freezer for up to 7 days. Allow leftover ice cream to soften for 10-15 minutes before scooping or pop the lid off and microwave for 10-15 seconds.
Variations
- Mint cookies and cream: Swap out the chocolate for 2-3 crushed Oreos. Try a mint oreo for a seriously minty version.
- Peppermint ice cream: Instead of chocolate chips, add crushed candy canes and peppermint extract.
- High protein mint chocolate chip: Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder for a higher protein version. (If you like protein ice creams you’ll love my Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream Recipe)
- Classic chocolate chip: Skip the mint extract for a traditional vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips.
- Mint chocolate chip cheesecake: Add 2 tablespoons of cream cheese for a creamy cheesecake flavor.
- Make a sundae – add chocolate sauce and whipped cream or any of your favorite toppings.
