Why you’ll love this ice cream

Homemade chocolate ice cream with just two simple ingredients? Sign me up! Seriously, this creamy chocolate ice cream could not be simpler. It’s sweet, delicious and the flavor is very reminiscent of a Wendy’s Frosty (yum!).

If you’re obsessed with your Ninja Creami ice cream maker like I am, this simple recipe is the perfect chocolate base for any chocolate ice cream you want to make. Peanut butter cup, chocolate chip, fudge swirl… the possibilities are endless!

This delicious dessert recipe is especially awesome because it’s incredibly low sugar compared with regular ice cream and has 12 grams of protein! It’s a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth if you’re working on healthier eating or lower sugar desserts.

I make this using Fairlife chocolate milk because it’s super creamy, has amazing chocolate flavor and bonusit only has an impressive 6 grams of added sugar per 8 oz. To compare, this Hood chocolate milk has 16g of added sugar per cup.

Ingredients

Chocolate milk: As I mentioned, I always go with Fairlife chocolate chocolate milk for this one. The lower sugar and higher protein content is a no-brainer, especially because it’s the best tasting chocolate milk in my opinion, too. But, you can use any chocolate milk that you like!

Heavy cream: Whenever I’m using a lower fat base for the ice cream, like milk, I prefer adding just a little bit of heavy cream to add some fat back. This makes sure the ice cream stays as creamy as possible! If you don’t have any, it will still be delicious without. If you’re using whole milk you can omit.

How to make Ninja Creami chocolate ice cream

  1. Combine chocolate milk and heavy cream in the Ninja Creami pint container and stir well. Freeze for 24 hours.
  2. Place the frozen pint container in the Ninja Creami machine and press the lite ice cream button x1.
  3. Use the re-spin function x2.

When finished, the ice cream should be smooth and creamy like the image above. If it’s still crumbly, add a tiny splash of extra chocolate milk before using the re-spin button a final time to get the perfect creamy ice cream.

To store, keep in the freezer. Leave out at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before serving to soften the ice cream.

Variations & Mix-in Ideas

  • 2 tbsp of cocoa powder for dark chocolate ice cream.
  • A tsp of vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste to add a little bit more flavor.
  • Use the mix-in function to add in chocolate chips, peanut butter cups, or Oreo cookies to your ice cream base!
  • A scoop of protein powder for a high protein chocolate frozen treat.
  • A scoop of peanut butter before pressing the mix-in function for a chocolate peanut butter ice cream.
  • Mix in fresh fruit or nuts.

  1. I don’t like the taste of Fairlife. Do you think this work with Ripple Dairy-free Chocolate Milk? It has less sugar than regular chocolate milk, but a thinner consistency.

    1. It’s definitely worth a try! The Ninja Creami is pretty good at turning just about anything into ice cream so I bet it would work ๐Ÿ™‚
