Luckily there are so many great options these days, and I’ve curated a list of the best gluten-free snacks right here for you!

I always recommend using whole foods first, but sometimes life happens and protein bars are a necessity. These are my top choices for protein bars that are also gluten-free.

    • Built Bars are known for their unique chewy texture and wide variety of flavors, making them a standout option in the protein bar market. Each bar is high in protein and low in sugar, plus they have a huge flavor range. Most of the bars have around 17-19 grams of protein.

Most of the snacks on our list are perfectly great choices for adults and kiddos of all ages, but we have a few more snack ideas that are a little more kid-friendly!

And don’t forget, there are lots of great naturally gluten-free snacks for kids, like:

  • Apple or banana with peanut butter (or any nut butter)
  • Berries
  • Oranges and clementines
  • Peaches, pears and nectarines
  • Sliced veggies
  • Cheese sticks and string cheese
  • Homemade fruit smoothies
  • Yogurt
  • Hard boiled eggs

Naturally gluten-free snacks

Now that we’ve dove into my favorite gluten-free snack products, don’t forget that there’s a long list of naturally gluten-free snacks that you can add to your snack box.

Disclaimer: if any food product is packaged or processed in any way (ex: yogurt, flavored nuts), always check the ingredients to make sure they haven’t added any sneak sources of gluten.

  • Fruit
    • All, including apples, bananas, oranges, clementines, grapes, pears, peaches, plums, berries, melon, kiwis, mango, and avocado (yes, it’s a fruit!).
  • Vegetables
    • All, including carrot sticks or carrot chips, snow peas, sliced baby bell peppers, broccoli, cherry tomatoes and cauliflower.
  • Dairy
    • My favorites for snacks are Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, string cheese, sliced cheese.
  • Nuts and seeds
    • Almonds, walnuts, cashews, pistachios, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and nut butters like almond butter and peanut butter are all naturally gluten-free.
  • Meat, fish and eggs
    • Grilled chicken, tuna fish and hard boiled egg make great additions to your snack plates. Deli meat is often a great option too, just double-check the ingredients.
  • Beans
    • Beans are naturally gluten-free, as are many brands of hummus. Just check the package before you buy, or make your own.
  • Soy foods
    • Soy-based products like tofu, tempeh, edamame and dried soy beans are naturally gluten-free because soy is gluten-free. Since many soy products are flavored and processed, it’s super important to always check the labels to ensure they haven’t added any gluten.
  • Popcorn, corn chips + potato chips
    • Most popcorn, corn chips and potato chips are gluten-free! Always check the label, but there are tons of options that are naturally gluten-free (I have some of my favorites in the list of salty snacks).

Gluten-free products can get pricey! Here are some of my favorite snack combinations that are naturally gluten-free!

  1. Apple + peanut butter
  2. Greek yogurt + berries
  3. Cottage cheese + pineapple
  4. Sliced veggies + hummus
  5. Sliced veggies + cottage cheese ranch
  6. Bell peppers stuffed with tuna salad or egg salad
  7. Grapes + cheese stick
  8. Dried edamame + almonds
  9. Sliced apples + Greek yogurt cookie dough dip
  10. Strawberries + cheesecake fluff
  11. Banana with almond butter
  12. Sliced veggies + guacamole
  13. Cucumbers + cottage cheese (and bagel seasoning!)
