This Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip is a creamy high-protein alternative to traditional ranch dip. Blending cottage cheese creates a smooth texture while boosting protein. It’s great for dipping vegetables, spreading on wraps, or serving with salads or bowls.

If you love ranch dip but want something even easier and higher in protein, then you’ll want to keep this easy recipe on repeat. When blended, the cottage cheese becomes smooth and creamy. The result is a flavorful dip that works well for meal prep, healthy snacking, or adding extra protein to everyday meals.
Drizzle it over my high protein turkey bowls, chicken nugget wraps, or easy lunch salad.
High-Protein Cottage Cheese Ranch Dip
Keeping a high-protein dip on hand can make everyday snacking feel easier and more balanced. It has the classic ranch flavor you expect, but the secret is the blended cottage cheese which creates a smooth satisfying texture and a boost of protein.
It’s quick to make, easy to customize, and perfect for turning simple snacks into something more filling and balanced.
- High protein. A ½ cup serving provides 14g of protein.
- Creamy texture. Blending the cottage cheese creates a rich whipped texture with the same flavors of a traditional ranch dip. It’s never grainy!
- Lighter than classic ranch dip. Using cottage cheese instead of sour cream or mayonnaise helps lower the overall fat content while still delivering great flavor.
- Ready in minutes. This dip comes together easily in just 5 minutes in a blender or food processor.
- Perfect for balanced snacking. This versatile dip pairs well with fresh vegetables, crackers, or chips.
Ingredient Notes
The best part about this recipe is that it only requires two ingredients!

For full recipe instructions and complete list of ingredients, scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of this page.
- Cottage cheese: You’ll need a 16-ounce container of cottage cheese for this recipe. Full fat cottage cheese will give you the creamiest result, but low fat cottage cheese works well too. If your cottage cheese is very watery, you can strain some liquid before blending for a thicker dip.
- Ranch seasoning powder: You can use the classic Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning, or I love this one too from Amazon (plus it’s cheaper!). You’ll need one full packet of dry ranch dressing mix or 3 tablespoons.
Equipment You Need
The reason this dip comes out so creamy is because it’s blended! To make this creamy dip (and any whipped cottage cheese for that matter), you’ll need a good blender or food processor. This Ninja system is my all-time favorite (I prefer it over my Vitamix!).
Variations & Substitutions
- Add fresh herbs for a homemade flavor. Stir in fresh dill, parsley, basil, or chives after blending for a brighter, fresher ranch taste.
- Make it spicy. Use a Fiesta Ranch Dip mix or a few tablespoons of buffalo sauce for a little kick!
- Boost the tanginess. Mix in up to ½ cup of sour cream or plain Greek yogurt for more of a tangy flavor.
- Swap the cottage cheese. You can replace the cottage cheese with plan Greek yogurt for an equally delicious high protein dip option.
- Adjust the seasoning. Add extra seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, dried herbs, or black pepper to your liking.
- Thin it into a dressing. Blend in 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk or lemon juice to create a pourable ranch dressing for salads or bowls.

Jamie’s tips
Expert Recipe Tips
- Blend longer than you think. Cottage cheese can look smooth but still have tiny curds. Blend for 30 to 60 seconds, scrape down the sides, and blend again until completely smooth.
- Use full-fat cottage cheese for the best flavor and texture. I tested this dip with both full and low-fat cottage cheese. Full fat creates the creamiest texture, while low-fat produces a slightly thinner dip that still works well.
- Customize the thickness. Add a splash of milk or lemon juice for a thinner dressing-style dip or blend in a spoonful of Greek yogurt for a thicker tangier dip.
- Let the dip chill before serving. Refrigerating the dip for 20 to 30 minutes allows the flavors to develop and slightly thickens the texture.
FAQs
This dip has the same creamy, mild and slightly sweet flavor of cottage cheese, but the texture is totally different! If you don’t like cottage cheese because of the curd texture, you don’t have to worry about that here. When you blend it, it truly transforms into a silky smooth creamy dip.
You can! Just mix cottage cheese with the dry seasonings. It will still be delicious, but the texture will be different because the cottage cheese curds will be intact. If you like the texture of cottage cheese regularly, you’ll love it.
Yes. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk or lemon juice while blending to create a thinner, pourable consistency.
A ½ cup serving has 14g of protein.
Serving Suggestions
- Veggie snack dip: Serve with fresh vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, or cauliflower.
- Spread for wraps and sandwiches: Use it in place of mayo or other creamy spreads to add flavor and protein to wraps or sandwiches.
- Burger sauce: Add a spoonful to burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, or sliders for a creamy ranch sauce.
- Dressing for salads or bowls: Thin the dip slightly to drizzle over salads and roasted vegetable or protein bowls.
- Topping for baked potatoes or sweet potatoes: Swap traditional sour cream for this lighter high-protein topping.
- Dip for wings or roasted vegetables: Serve with buffalo wings or roasted vegetables for a flavorful dipping sauce.
- Easy meal prep snack tray: Prepare a batch at the start of the week and store it with cut vegetables in a veggie platter tray with a lid for super easy snacking.
How to Store
Store the dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Give it a stir before serving. If the dip thickens too much in the fridge, you can add a small splash of milk or lemon juice and stir to return to the creamy consistency.
Freezing is not recommended. The texture can become watery or grainy after thawing.
