Why you’ll love this

If you want a healthy recipe that satisfies your Big Mac cravings, you’re going to absolutely love these delicious wraps.

One of the things I love most about this big mac wrap recipe is that it comes together SO quickly in a few easy steps. If you need a new busy weeknight dinner to add to your rotation, this is it.

It takes no more than 15 minutes to put together (perfect for a busy weeknight or quick lunch), it’s nutritious, and it’s a major crowd pleasure. Who doesn’t love the classic flavor of a McDonald’s Big Mac?

I also love that you can customize these with your favorite burger toppings, so your entire family can enjoy a burger wrap that they love.

You can also change up how you serve them. If you’re not in the mood for a wrap you can turn it into a salad, a bowl, or even serve in a regular hamburger bun.

If you ask me, the star of these big mac wraps is my homemade big mac sauce. It’s made lighter than traditional burger sauce, but so so yummy.

Let’s dive into what you’ll need to make these big mac wraps.

Big mac wrap ingredients on a countertop with labels.

Ingredients

  • Ground turkey: I like to use a 93/7 ground turkey which means 93% fat free; 7% fat. It still gives some fat to keep the meat from getting too dry. You can use ground beef here too, but I find ground turkey to be a really great ground beef substitute in this recipe.
  • Spices: To season the meat you’ll need salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Flour tortilla: These are my favorite flour tortillas to use in a recipe like this because they’re delicious and they have extra fiber and protein. They’re technically low carb tortillas but I just love them! Any soft tortillas will work.
  • Fresh lettuce: You can use any lettuce that you like or even buy pre-shredded lettuce.
  • Shredded cheddar cheese: I love using cheddar but you can use whatever you like. Pepper jack cheese, provolone cheese, monterey jack cheese- it will all be delicious! You can also use classic slices of American cheese.
  • Sweet onion: Sweet onion or red onion works best here.
  • Cherry tomatoes: Cherry tomatoes add the perfect hint of sweetness and fresh flavors to these big mac wraps.
  • Dill pickles: Have you tried these pickles?  They are the absolute best. You could also use a sweet pickle relish if you’re out of pickles!
  • Big Mac Sauce: To make this healthy big mac sauce you’ll need Greek yogurt, mayo, ketchup, dijon or yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar and some spices.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat 1-2 tsp of oil on medium heat and add your ground turkey. Season with taco seasoning and continue cooking until fully browned, about 10 minutes.
  2. While the ground turkey is cooking, make your mac sauce by combining all ingredients in a small bowl.

How to store

Store leftover meat in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Store leftover toppings separate and then assemble right before serving.

Recipe FAQ

Could I use burger patties instead of ground meat?

Yes! Absolutely. You can do turkey burgers, beef burgers, or even veggie burgers if you prefer the patty over the crumbled meat.  Make it your own!

Can I ditch the wrap and make it a burger bowl?

Of course! Add more lettuce to the bowl & top with the ground meat and all of your favorite big mac wrap toppings. Check out this recipe for a deconstructed burger salad bowl if that’s more your thing. If you need a gluten-free version, swap the wrap for a gluten-free version or serve as a bowl with fries.

What to serve with

These big mac wraps are perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. Whip up a side of this healthy dill pickle potato salad or a big green salad to make it a complete and balanced meal!

Variations

  • Use ground beef, ground chicken, shredded chicken, beef patties, meatless crumbles like Impossible Meat, turkey burgers, or veggie burgers in place of the ground turkey.
  • Pick your favorite toppings to add to your Big Mac Wrap like sliced jalapeños, avocado, or pickled onions.
  • Top your wraps with buffalo ranch sauce instead for buffalo ranch wraps!
  • Make it a southwest style wrap and drizzle with this greek yogurt taco sauce instead of the big mac sauce.
  • Switch up the cheese. Try feta, blue cheese, or pepper jack to mix up the flavors.
  • Serve them “crunch wrap” style by folding them up and grilling in a skillet.
