Why you’ll love this
You absolutely cannot create a Big Mac burger or wrap without the McDonald’s special sauce to drizzle on top. This healthy big mac sauce is the perfect way to satisfy your next fast food craving.
This easy recipe comes together in minutes with a handful of ingredients you probably already have on hand. You’re going to want to slather this sauce on just about everything!
It uses a creamy base of Greek yogurt and mayo plus simple ingredients like dijon mustard, ketchup, and a few other spices. It’s the perfect balance of sweet tanginess to add to your sandwich, similar to a thousand island dressing.
This is truly the secret sauce that’s going to take your burgers to the next level.
It’s perfect for your favorite burger on a sesame seed bun of course but it’s also the perfect condiment for burger bowls, sandwiches, as a salad dressing (big mac salad bowls- yum!), or even just for dipping fries or onion rings.
My current favorite way to serve this sauce is served with ground turkey, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and white onion in my Big Mac Wraps.
However you choose to serve this delicious big mac sauce, it’s the perfect compliment to your next burger night.
Let’s get into what you need to make this homemade big mac sauce recipe!
Big Mac sauce ingredients
You only need a few basic ingredients that you already have on hand to make this copycat big mac sauce recipe!
- Plain Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt has the perfect creamy consistency for this healthy big mac sauce. Plain Greek yogurt is super similar to sour cream in taste and texture.
- Mayonnaise: I like to add just a small amount of mayo for that traditional burger sauce flavor. This is one of my favorite brands of mayonnaise made with avocado oil.
- Ketchup: Just a touch of ketchup here adds the right amount of sweetness to this sauce.
- Dijon mustard: Dijon mustard or yellow mustard will both work here. I even like making this with Trader Joe’s dill pickle mustard!
- Garlic powder + paprika: The garlic powder and paprika adds just the right amount of subtle savory flavor. You can also add a little bit of onion powder if you like to!
- Apple cider vinegar: Adding just a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar adds just the right amount of tangy flavor! You can use white vinegar if you don’t have any ACV.
- Honey: Helps balance out the tart flavors of the ACV and mustard.
- Salt and black pepper
