This Dole Whip Ninja Creami recipe is an easy 3-ingredient pineapple soft serve made with canned pineapple, coconut milk, and a little honey or maple syrup. It’s creamy, refreshing, and perfect when you want a homemade version of the classic Disney treat, all made in the Ninja Creami machine.

Creamy, Refreshing, and Easy 3-Ingredient Dole Whip Ninja Creami
If you’ve never tried a Dole Whip before, it’s a creamy pineapple dessert sold in Disney parks that’s served like a soft-serve ice cream. It’s a delicious frozen treat that is both refreshing and satisfying on hot days.
And you can make a homemade Dole Whip from the comfort of your own home using a few healthy ingredients and your Ninja Creami ice cream maker.
Here’s just a few reasons you’ll love it:
- Creamy refreshing texture. It has that smooth soft-serve consistency with tropical pineapple flavor that makes the Dole Whip so popular.
- Only 3 simple ingredients. Just pineapple, coconut milk, and a little honey or maple syrup.
- Easy to make in the Ninja Creami. It has an ultra-smooth texture that tastes surprisingly close to the original.
- Lighter dessert option. It feels like a decadent dessert while still being refreshing, and even has 3 grams of fiber per serving.
- Perfect for summer. Cold, creamy, and tropical. This is one of the best Ninja Creami desserts for a hot summer day.
What to Expect (Texture and Flavor)
This homemade copycat Dole Whip has a smooth creamy texture similar to classic soft-serve with bright, refreshing pineapple flavor.
It’s lighter and fruitier than traditional ice cream but still rich enough to feel like a decadent frozen dessert. The coconut milk adds richness while letting the pineapple flavor shine.
Dole Whip Ingredients
This is the best part. You only need three super simple ingredients to make this creamy pineapple dole whip!

For full recipe instructions and complete list of ingredients, scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of this page.
- Canned pineapple in juice: All you need is a can of pineapple that’s in 100% of it’s own juice just to make things easy. The canned pineapple chunks plus juice add the perfect amount of pineapple flavor. You can also use fresh pineapple chunks or frozen pineapple but you’ll likely need to add a bit more liquid. Note: You’ll need to separate the pineapple juice from the pineapple for recipe measurements.
- Coconut milk: I love to use unsweetened coconut milk because it goes so well with pineapple, but you can also add regular milk if you prefer it to have a creamy texture closer to ice cream (plus, it will be higher protein). You can use any kind of coconut milk, full-fat coconut milk or the kind that you’ll find in the carton. Oat milk, almond milk, cashew milk or soy milk all work too.
- Honey: I like to use just a little bit of honey or maple syrup to bring out the sweet flavors even more. If you want something with no added sugar, you can omit this.
Variations to Try
- No sugar: Omit the honey if you prefer a no added sugar treat.
- Mix up the flavor: Change up the flavor by adding lemon juice, lime juice or orange juice.
- Banana pineapple version: Use just 1 cup of pineapple and 1/2 cup of a sliced banana to make a banana pineapple version.
- Banana mango version: Add 1 cup of pineapple and 1/2 cup of cubed mango for a pineapple mango version.
- Use ice cream: Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of milk if you want a creamy ice cream version.
- Add protein: Instead of milk, use a vanilla protein shake for a high protein dole whip!
- Add toppings: A few of my favorite toppings are toasted coconut, fresh pineapple, graham cracker crumbs, white chocolate chips, a drizzle of honey, lime zest, or granola.
How to Make Ninja Creami Dole Whip

- In a blender or food processor, combine pineapple, pineapple juice, and milk. Blend on high until full blended. (You can also put your ingredients straight into the Ninja Creami pint container and use an immersion blender.)

- Add the blended ingredients to the pint-sized Ninja Creami container, put the lid on and freeze for 24 hours.

- Remove from the freezer and place pint container in the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami, and then put the outer bowl lid on. Put the the bowl into the Ninja Creami machine. Press “sorbet” (the “lite ice cream” button will also work for this). After the first spin, it will likely still look crumbly.

- Press the re-spin button the two more times. If your sorbet looks too crumbly after the first re-spin, add a tiny splash of milk before the final re-spin (about a teaspoon).
Serve with any toppings that you like and enjoy!

Jamie’s tips
Expert Recipe Tips
- Blend the mixture before freezing. This creates a smoother base and helps evenly distribute the pineapple and coconut milk.
- Use the Sorbet setting. This setting works best for fruit-based recipes like Dole Whip and creates the closest soft-serve texture.
- Don’t panic if it looks crumbly after the first spin. This is normal for many Ninja Creami recipes. Add 1-2 teaspoons of milk and respin until creamy.
- Serve right after spinning for the best texture. The Dole Whip will have the creamiest soft-serve consistency immediately after processing.

Recipe FAQ
There are two ways to fix a crumbly final product in the Ninja Creami:
Re-spin! Re-spinning helps to make the final product creamier. I find that lower fat recipes tend to require more re-spins. Luckily they’re quick!
Add liquid. Adding a very small amount of liquid can make a huge difference in the creaminess of your Ninja Creami recipes. If you need to, add a very small splash of milk or juice before spinning again. Just be careful not to add too much!
Any pineapple will work for this recipe. For frozen pineapple chunks, either let the pineapple thaw a bit before using it or use less pineapple and more liquid. If you use the same ratios with frozen, you will likely need to add a bit more liquid when spinning.
If you find that your Dole Whip is too crumbly after spinning, add a splash of liquid at a time before re-spinning as advised in the notes of the recipe card.
Yes, unfortunately you can’t stick whole fruit into the Creami machine – it won’t blend it. You can use whole fruit as a mix-in, but any fruit that you want blended needs to be blended first.
How to Store
Freeze the Dole Whip leftovers in an airtight container for 1-2 weeks. Respin it in the Ninja Creami to return it to the creamy texture.

My husband and I just finished eating this delicious dessert. Thank goodness I made 2 pints so we’ll have some for tomorrow! I had coconut cream on hand, so I used the whole can to make 2 pints. I also substituted raw agave nectar for the honey. I used my blender rather than a food processor.
I will be making more and serving it to my Mahjong group next week!
So glad you enjoyed this, thank you for your review! It’s one of my favorites too 🙂
I can’t wait to try this. It sounds delicious and easy. Thank you for sharing.
You noted that you can’t put whole fruit in the creami, but I’ve put an entire can of pineapple chunks, with its liquid, in the creami and it blended it smoothly. In fact, the can of pineapple is featured in the infomercial and it’s one of the main reasons I bought the machine.
Yes, I think most canned will work because it’s so soft! Can’t wait for you to try this one!
