Beat the heat this summer with this refreshing 3-ingredient Ninja Creami watermelon sorbet recipe! Bursting with natural sweetness from simple ingredients like fresh watermelon, it’s the perfect treat for the heat.

This watermelon sorbet is an explosion of natural sweetness from fresh watermelon and a bit of tangy lime juice. The texture is so smooth it’s almost creamy, which is kind of amazing, considering it’s made almost entirely from fruit. It’s perfect for hot summer days and so much better than store-bought.
Speaking of store-bought, this homemade frozen treat (like my Ninja Creami Mango Sorbet and this Ninja Creami Lemon Sorbet) is not only tastier, but way lower in sugar than what you’ll find in grocery stores!
This Ninja Creami Watermelon Sorbet Is Peak Summer
If you’re a huge fan of watermelon during the summer months like me, you need this. Here’s what makes it so fabulous:
- Incredible flavor. This watermelon sorbet is the ultimate frozen treat! The combination of juicy watermelon and lime juice creates a refreshing balance of sweet and zesty flavors.
- Naturally wholesome. Forget the artificial flavors and added sugars found in store-bought sorbets. This recipe is made with fresh, real ingredients. Just fruit and an optional drizzle of honey for extra sweetness.
- So simple. This delicious watermelon sorbet only needs10 minutes of active prep time. After 24 hours of freeze time and a quick spin in the Ninja Creami Machine, you’ve got a refreshing treat you can feel good about.
What You’ll Need
This super easy recipe only needs three ingredients. Here’s a shopping list for you (check out the recipe card below for precise measurements):
- Watermelon – Make sure to pick a ripe, sweet watermelon! It should be deep green and sound hollow when you tap on it. For more info on picking a ripe watermelon, check out the section below “Tips for Success”. This sorbet is also the perfect way to use up leftover watermelon, too!
- Fresh lime juice – Squeezed fresh. Bottled lemon juice is often overly acidic.
- Honey (optional) – If you pick the right watermelon, you may not need it, but you can add a little honey (or maple syrup) if you prefer.
Variations
- Change up the citrus. Use fresh lemon juice or even orange juice instead of lime.
- Swap the watermelon. You can use this same recipe with lot of different fresh fruit, like strawberries, mango or even pineapple.
- Make it smoothie bowls. Add an extra splash of water or coconut water for a thinner texture and use the smoothie bowl button. Top with a dollop of vanilla Greek yogurt and top with fresh fruit and shredded coconut.
- Top with flaky sea salt. Are you a salted watermelon fan? Add a sprinkle!
How to Make Watermelon Sorbet in Your Ninja Creami
Here’s a quick look at how to make this out-of-this-world watermelon sorbet. Be sure to scroll to the recipe card below for more detailed instructions.
- Combine. Add the watermelon, lime, and honey to a blender (or food processor).
- Blend. Blend until smooth.
- Transfer. Pour the mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container. Place storage lid on.
- Freeze. Place pint in freezer for 24 hours on a level surface.
- Sorbet mode. Run the Ninja Creami Ice Cream Maker on the sorbet setting x1.
- Respin. Use the re-spin button to re-spin the sorbet x2. If the sorbet turns out crumbly, add a small splash of water and respin again for a more creamy texture.
My Pro Tip
Tip for Success
- Get the texture right. If your sorbet turns out slightly crumbly (after the respin cycle), just add a tiny splash of water and run the cycle again. This quick fix will give you a smoother, creamier texture.
- Choose your watermelon wisely. Picking a ripe one is key for that fresh watermelon flavor. Look for a melon that has a deep green color, feels heavy for its size, has a creamy yellow spot where it rested on the ground, and sounds hollow when you tap on it.
- Sweetness check. Once all the ingredients are mixed in the pint container, take a moment to taste the mixture. If it needs a little extra sweetness, add 1 tablespoon of honey at a time until it’s just right.
- Have patience. While the freezing process is a bit annoying, patience is key. Allow the sorbet mixture to freeze for at least 24 hours before using the Ninja Creami. The most common issue is not freezing your pint for long enough.
How to Store Homemade Sorbet
To store leftover sorbet, simply keep it in the Ninja Creami pint container with the lid securely on, or transfer it to an airtight container. It will stay fresh in the freezer for up to one week.
When you’re ready to indulge, let the sorbet sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes to soften to a perfectly scoopable texture.
