You’re going to love this one, so let’s get into what you need to make it!
Ingredients
- Chicken sausage: I recommend choosing a neutral flavored chicken sausage, like roasted garlic. If you’re feeding more than 3 people, I’d use two packages to up the protein!
- Olive oil: For pan cooking the chicken sausage.
- Fresh broccoli florets: Broccoli works great here but you could also use cauliflower or a combination of both.
- Carrots: My favorite to use for a stir fry is matchstick carrots, but you can also use shredded (the carrots will just be much softer).
- Rice: For serving- brown rice or white rice are both fine. You could also serve over your favorite noodles.
Stir fry sauce
- Low sodium soy sauce: You can also use coconut aminos if you prefer.
- Honey: Honey adds the perfect amount of sweetness to this stir-fry sauce.
- Garlic: You’ll need lots of fresh garlic, of course! Use a garlic microplane to make your life a little easier.
- Cornstarch: Cornstarch helps to make this sauce nice and thick so that it coats the veggies and chicken sausage. If you don’t have any, your sauce will be on the thinner side.
- Lemon juice: Lemon adds the perfect amount of brightness and acidity to the sauce.

- Remove the cover and add carrots, saute for about 1 minute.
- Add the sauce to the stir-fry and simmer 1-2 minutes stirring frequently to coat evenly with sauce. Lastly stir in the lemon juice and remove from heat. Add additional salt, pepper and lemon juice to taste.

How to store
Store leftover stir-fry in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Variations
- Instead of chicken sausage, use thinly sliced chicken breast or steak, ground turkey, or ground chicken.
- Add sriracha to the stir-fry sauce for a spicy version, or top with red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- Use any veggies you have like cauliflower, bell peppers, cauliflower rice, green beans, onions, sugar snap peas, or zucchini.
- Serve over lo-mein egg noodles or udon noodles instead of rice.
