Why you’ll love this

No bake treats are some of my favorite recipes ever (don’t miss my super popular No Bake Peanut Butter Oat Cups). These bites are easy, made from nutritious, simple ingredients and they’re delicious!

Two of these no bake brownie protein bites have 10 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber to keep you full and fueled to help you reach your fiber and protein goals.

They make a great protein-packed snack, after dinner sweet treat, or can even be used for pre or post-workout fuel.

These energy balls are like mini protein brownies and they also store great in the refrigerator or the freezer so you can have a yummy and healthy treat on hand any time.

Ingredients

These little treats are the perfect healthy snack to satisfy your sweet tooth! Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card for full measurements and instructions.

  • Oats: Old fashioned oats blended into oat flour are the base of these healthy protein brownie bites. The oats add both fiber and protein. You can use regular rolled oats or quick oats.
  • Chocolate protein powder: Whey protein powder helps to bump up the protein and adds some sweetness and chocolate flavor. My favorite protein powder is Clean Simple Eats Chocolate Brownie Batter protein powder, but any kind of protein powder that you like will work.
  • Cocoa powder: It wouldn’t be a brownie without cocoa powder to give that rich chocolatey flavor. Plus cocoa powder adds antioxidants!
  • Flax: Ground flaxseed adds fiber and healthy fats, it also helps the balls stick together.
  • Peanut butter: Any smooth nut butter will work and you almost can’t taste it under all of the chocolatey goodness! Peanut butter adds in a bit more protein and binds this tasty treat together.
  • Pure maple syrup: This natural sweetener adds the right amount of sweetness and moisture without overpowering the brownie flavor.
  • Vanilla extract: Pure vanilla extract adds a subtle sweetness and enhances the flavor of the chocolate.
  • Milk: A small amount of milk adds moisture to these delicious brownie bites and helps them roll into perfect balls.
  • Mini chocolate chips: Teeny tiny chocolate chips ensure the perfect amount of chocolate in every bite. Chopped up semi-sweet chocolate chips work too (you could even use mini M&Ms!).

How to store

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or in a freezer-safe container for up to 1 month. These should be stored in the fridge instead of room temperature due to fresh ingredients used.

Variations

  • Mix up the nut butter – try it with almond butter, cashew butter or sunflower seed butter for a nut free alternative.
  • Choose a and sugar free maple syrup for a bite with even less sugar. You could also use 1 ⅓ cups almond flour or coconut flour in place of oats for a lower carb version.
  • For some extra healthy fats add chopped walnuts, almonds or pecans!
  • For a vegan version choose almond milk and a plant-based protein powder with dairy free chocolate chips.
  • Make peanut butter protein balls – use vanilla protein powder and skip the cocoa powder.
  • Sprinkle the tops with sea salt for a delicious compliment to the chocolate flavor.
  • Press the balls flat to make protein cookies – or press all the dough into a 9×9” pan and slice into 1” squares for healthy protein brownies with the classic square shape.
