Why you’ll love it

The Greek yogurt pudding dessert is perfectly sweet, high protein, and super creamy! It’s easily one of my favorite dessert recipes because of how incredibly simple it is.

If you’re someone who loves a sweet treat but is also looking for a high protein snack too, this pudding also has 15 g protein per serving!

I especially love that this recipe uses Greek yogurt instead of something like protein powder for the protein source. Nothing against protein powder, but sometimes it can overpower the recipe a bit!

This easy dessert takes 5 minutes to make and is so simple- you just mix your ingredients in a bowl and let it set for a couple of minutes. That’s it, done.

It also stores well and can be made ahead for an easy grabb-able healthy treat for the week!

You can use any instant pudding mix for this recipe which means the possibilities are endless. You can make Greek yogurt chocolate pudding, butterscotch pudding, cheesecake pudding– there are so many delicious dessert options!

Ingredients

  1. Plain Greek yogurt: Plain Greek yogurt amps up the protein in this pudding but I promise, it doesn’t end up tasting like Greek yogurt at all. I prefer full fat Greek yogurt for max creaminess, but you can use non-fat Greek yogurt too or any kind that you like.
  2. Instant pudding mix: Any instant pudding mix will work here! I usually choose sugar free pudding mix, but regular is perfectly fine too. If you’re looking for an option without artificial colors, I like this one.
  3. Milk: I like using Fairlife 2% milk for even more protein per serving, but you can use any milk. Note: You can use dairy alternatives like almond milk or oat milk, but the pudding will not set up quite as well and will be “fluffy” versus creamy. For the best creaminess I recommend using regular milk.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, milk and pudding mix until smooth and creamy. Note: If you’d like your pudding and yogurt mixture to be a bit fluffier, mix it in a food processor, blender or use a hand mixer to give it more of a “whipped” consistency.

Recipe FAQ

Do I have to add milk or can I just use Greek yogurt?

Yes, you could add 2 cups of Greek yogurt instead, but you’ll get more of a “fluff” texture than a creamy pudding. Personally I think the added milk makes a huge difference while still having enough Greek yogurt to bump up the protein! You can also use a little bit less milk, but I do recommend using some!

Can you make it ahead of time?

Yes! You can make a batch of this and then store it in your fridge for up to 4 days in an airtight container. It’s a great “meal prep” dessert recipe that you can make for the week!

Does it taste like Greek yogurt?

Honestly once it’s mixed with the dry pudding mix and milk, you’d never know it was mixed with Greek yogurt! Even if you’re not a big fan of Greek yogurt I think you’ll enjoy this one!

Can I use flavored yogurt like vanilla yogurt?

You can, I would just be mindful of how much added sugar or sweetener is added to the yogurt you choose, because the flavor may be a little strong when mixed with the pudding mix.

Hi there! Question about the calorie content listed for this. The pudding mix alone (going by the exact one pictured here) has 360 calories for the full box, yet the calories for 1 serving is listed as only 146 which is much lower than half that mix and not including the yogurt and milk. Perhaps this should be listed as 4 servings or am I missing something? Regardless I am sure it is delicious! 🙂

  2. JoAnn says:

What would be really great is if you gave the measurements of how much greek yogurt and how much milk

    1. Jamie N, Registered Dietitian says:

Measurements are right in the recipe card at the bottom of the post 🙂

      1. Monica says:

I do not see the recipe card only the ingredients listed with no measurements

        1. Jamie N, Registered Dietitian says:

The recipe card is at the bottom of the post 🙂

I always hit jump to recipe. Nowadays, everybody writes a book and then puts the recipe at the bottom of the page. Everything you need is there. Just… Jump to recipe.

    This is really good…
Would you be able to freeze these to make pudding pops?

    1. Jamie N, Registered Dietitian says:

      Definitely!

  4. Sherri says:

If I use Almond milk does the sodium intake decrease?

    1. Jamie N, Registered Dietitian says:

You’d have to check the specific milk you’re using and compare, every brand is different!

    2. Frank A says:

The high sodium in this recipe comes from the instant pudding mix. Unfortunately, it’s extremely high. I love instant pudding but have to limit intake. Recipe is good tho

  5. Christy says:

    Mine stayed a liquid 😢

    1. Jamie N, Registered Dietitian says:

Hi! Did you follow the recipe exactly as written with instant pudding mix, milk and Greek yogurt? The Greek yogurt adds a ton of thickness, so it really shouldn’t be a liquid at any point!

      1. Bri says:

I bet they used regular yogurt instead of greek!

      2. Joanne says:

Hello. Mine is also liquidy. I used Greek yogurt and followed the recipe. I had a larger quantity though because I had the larger box of pudding mix.

        1. Jamie N, Registered Dietitian says:

I’m not sure why this would turn out liquidy unfortunately! I’ve made it several times and even before it sets completely its quite thick. I would double check that you’re using instant pudding mix and using the correct amounts of liquid 🙂

    2. Sarah says:

Did you use instant pudding? If you use regular it needs heat to thicken – you need the instant “just add milk” kind.

  6. Nancy says:

Is the 15 g of protein per serving or for the full recipe (2 servings)?

    1. Jamie N, Registered Dietitian says:

The nutrition information is based on one serving (so half of the full recipe).

Just made this, and it is SO good! I used oat milk, just because that’s what I had on hand. And I used whole milk plain skyr. Even with those changes, it might just be the best and easiest pudding I’ve ever had!
