Why you’ll love this

This easy taco dip recipe is a spin on the classic taco dip that’s usually made with cream cheese and then topped with shredded lettuce, cheese, tomato and olives.

Instead of the usual sour cream and cream cheese combo, it’s made with high protein cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. Puréed cottage cheese transforms into a smooth velvety texture and I promise you won’t even notice!

This delicious dip has 18 grams of protein per serving thanks to the blended cottage cheese and Greek yogurt combo!

This is a great recipe to prep easy healthy snacks for the week or even serving for a barbecue or game days!

If you love an easy dip for chips, veggies or crackers, this one’s a must try.

Ingredients

  1. Cottage cheese: Cottage cheese is the high protein secret weapon here! It’s blended up, so no need to worry if you don’t like the curds. I prefer full-fat, but any will work.
  2. Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt takes the place of sour cream and also adds even more protein.
  3. Taco seasoning: My favorite taco seasoning mix is Siete, but you can also make your own!
  4. Diced green chiles: These green chiles add so much good flavor to this recipe!
  5. Shredded cheese: I like to use either a shredded Mexican cheese blend, cheddar cheese, Monterey jack cheese, or pepper jack. You can use any shredded cheese that you like.
  6. Toppings: My favorite toppings are shredded lettuce, cherry or grape tomatoes, green onion, and olives. You can add whatever you like! I also love to add jalapeños (fresh or pickled), avocado, and cilantro.
  7. Chips or veggies for dipping: For dipping, serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, con chips like Fritos, or sliced veggies like bell peppers or carrot chips.

Recipe FAQ

What kind of cottage cheese is best?

Any cottage cheese will work for this recipe. You can use full-fat, reduced-fat, or fat-free cottage cheese. Personally I always use full-fat because it has the best flavor and creamy texture when blended. Good Culture is my favorite cottage cheese brand.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! You can prep this ahead and then store in an airtight container for up to 4 days. If it will be in the fridge for more than 1-2 days I recommend waiting to add the toppings until serving time.

Variation ideas

  • Add layers of salsa and ground beef or ground turkey.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce before blending for a hot taco dip.
  • Add a squeeze of fresh lime juice for some zest and a hint of tang!
