Why you’ll love this

This creamy easy garlic cilantro lime sauce is hands down one of my favorite sauces to date.

It comes together so quickly, and it’s so versatile!  It’s the perfect sauce for tacos, lettuce wraps (like these Cilantro Lime Shrimp Wraps!), or even as a dipping sauce for veggies or fries!

It’s made with simple ingredients like Greek yogurt, fresh cilantro, lime juice and garlic. But- even though the ingredient list is so simple, it makes the most flavorful sauce.

Plus, this creamy garlic sauce is made a bit healthier with Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. I promise, you won’t even notice!

Full fat Greek yogurt makes the perfect base and when you add fresh ingredients it tastes exactly the same as sour cream.

The popular food chain “Pollo Tropical” has a popular garlic cilantro sauce, but I’d argue that this one is even better!

This will be a go-to sauce recipe in your kitchen; just like it has been in mine!

Ingredients

You only need a few simple, wholesome ingredients for this super tasty sauce!

  • Plain Greek yogurt: Full-fat Greek yogurt is the base of the sauce. Full-fat works best here for consistency and flavor. It’s a great high protein swap for sour cream.
  • Mayo: This is one of my favorite mayo brands made with avocado oil.
  • Fresh garlic cloves: Use this garlic grater to make your life easier, no chopping required! Note: If you don’t like the strong flavor of fresh cloves of garlic, you can either use garlic powder or roasted garlic cloves instead. Personally I love the flavor that raw garlic adds to sauces and dressings.
  • Cilantro: Cilantro is a must for this sauce and pairs super well with lime juice and garlic.
  • Fresh lime juice: Lime juice adds the citrusy flavor that pairs so well with garlic. Try this lime juicer instead of squeezing by hand. You can swap in lemon juice if you don’t have any limes.
  • Salt

Step-by-step instructions

  1. In a food processor or high speed blender, add plain Greek yogurt, mayo, minced garlic, cilantro, lime juice and salt. Process on high until fully combined and blended. Note: If you prefer less cilantro, just start with less and taste test as you go!

  1. If you don’t want to use a food processor, you can very finely mince the garlic and cilantro and then combine all ingredients. You can also use an immersion blender in a cylinder shaped bowl or container.

Note: This sauce is a creamier, thicker consistency, but if you like a thinner sauce you can add a tablespoon at a time of milk.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced or microplaned
  • 1/3 cup cilantro
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Note: if you don't have a food processor, you can finely mince the cilantro and then combine all ingredients.
  • If you don’t want to use a food processor, you can very finely mince the garlic and cilantro and then combine all ingredients.

Notes

Fresh garlic has a strong zesty flavor (I personally love it!). If you prefer a more mild garlic flavor, roast your garlic first or use garlic powder instead.
For a thinner sauce, thin with a tablespoon of milk at a time.
