Why you’ll love this

This Greek yogurt taco sauce comes together in less than 5 ingredients!  Plus, you probably have most of these simple ingredients on hand already.

If you love all things taco-inspired like I do, this one is a must try on your favorite taco dishes. I especially love using this one for my Taco Rice Bowls!

With fresh ingredients like lime juice and the just the right amount of spice from the taco seasoning, this Greek yogurt taco sauce is a great addition for a burrito bowl, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, or taco salads.

You can also use this as a creamy taco dressing or a dip for your favorite veggies or fries. It’s a great homemade sauce to make at the start of the week so you have it on hand when you want it!

Let’s get into how to make it next!

Ingredients

  • Plain Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt is a great swap as a healthier alternative to sour cream for extra protein. I prefer to use full fat yogurt but you can use nonfat yogurt as well, it just will be a little less creamy! You can also use half Greek yogurt, half sour cream if you’re not sure about using Greek yogurt for 100% of the recipe.
  • Milk or buttermilk: Any milk will work here, so use what you have! The milk acts as a liquid to thin the sauce, so you can also add more/less depending on how thin you like it.
  • Taco seasoning + extra paprika: Siete is my favorite taco seasoning, but you can use any that you like. Or make your own homemade (I have a recipe for homemade taco seasoning here!). Make sure to choose a taco seasoning that you already know you enjoy!
  • Lime juice: Fresh lime juice adds the perfect amount of zesty lime flavor. You can add a little bit more if you like things really citrus-y!
  • Salt + black pepper

Step-by-step instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, milk, taco seasoning, paprika and lime juice (if you don’t have a citrus squeezer, get one!).

Recipe FAQ

How to store

If you don’t enjoy all of this in one sitting, you can store the greek yogurt sauce in an airtight container with a lid like a mason jar in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can also prep this ahead of time for the week!

Can I make my own taco seasoning instead?

Yes!  If you want to make your own taco seasoning, here’s a recipe for that.  If you’d prefer to buy your taco seasoning, this is my favorite brand here. If you use another brand just make sure you’ve used it before and enjoy the flavor, since its the seasoning that will make up the sauce!

What to serve with this greek yogurt taco sauce

This tangy sauce is the perfect adding to the top of tacos, nachos and burrito bowls! You can also use it as a salad dressing for your favorite taco salad or a dip for quesadillas and sweet potato fries! It would be especially great as a fish taco sauce or a creamy sauce for shrimp tacos!

It’s the perfect complement to your favorite taco-inspired dished.

This sauce also goes perfectly with these Taco Rice Bowls

Here are a few of my favorite meals to use it with, too!
